Will I never change?
Do I have to live like everyone else to have an impactful life in this culture?
Is my brain physically unable to break from negative paths it has habitually taken?
Am I fated to follow the footsteps of the generations of my family?
Naturally, I might think “yes” to all of the questions above.
But I would deceive myself.
Brain science says otherwise. I’ve experienced real change in myself. And I’ve watched people become new with strength beyond their own willpower.
I’m willing to fight for regeneration and transformation and make new pathways. And even though I tend to be a rule-follower, I’m learning to welcome disruption from the status quo for the sake of myself and others.
Otherwise, we’re just going down whatever path the Powers of culture design for us.
Without further ado, a poem for you:
rewire your mind paths
by Durgan Maxey
rewire your mind paths or stay unchanged renew your formations you are not your father you are not your mother malleable fates meet predetermined wills your mother did not make you your father did not make you look deep beyond blood for the Knitter of all bodies and souls to break form& transform testing for good these pains of change are sacrifice/worship let go of what you’re told to want become something you never were free
Thanks for reading.
